The Swamp Tail - SOLD

This ‘Whale of a Tale’ has been made from a book matched pair of Tasmanian Oak swamp burl. This tree had fallen into a swamp decades ago on the Tasmanian Central Highlands. This eventually caused the growth rings to soften and decay over the years. The tree was then salvaged and milled revealing the delicate nature of these burl pieces. once the whale tail was cut and joined it was infused with metallic resin which soaked into the decayed broth rings. This has given it look that cannot be recreated making it a one of a kind statement piece. The tail has been placed on a black oak base and reclaimed copper from an abandoned mine has been formed and cut to replicate the oceans waves.

Measurements - 1.2m Wide x 600 tall x 350 deep
